We must appologize for leaving such a break between entries but we have been having too much fun this weekend. Mike started a new nausia drug on Friday and it is working very well. In fact it worked so well that we had a chance to roll over to the mall a block away. Matt, Mike and I roled around them mall, had lunch and bought Mike some shoes. It was good! Today we finally got the correct adaptors to get his DVD player up and running again, so we basically chilled for the majority of day.
I must say it has been good. I have missed him! I can't wait till he can come visit me (and meet all of his Detroit family!).

Isn’t it amazing how we find out that the true essence of who we are is not contingent on ANY circumstance? It’s not about our bodies / our jobs / who we’re with – it’s tied up in the unique purposes for which we were designed by God.
When we’re faced with major obstacles that rattle us to the core, it’s so important to retain that sense of self – the specific traits and qualities that comprise who God created US to be. We need to stay in touch with that…and find new ways of reflecting that in the world.
We may lose some part of our bodies / some relationship / some job, but we DO NOT lose who and what we are – and why we are on this earth. Keep expressing that, Mike – and keep discovering those things that only you can be used by God to carry out. You may not be able to see it just yet, but God has extraordinary things in store for you – things that we can’t even conceive of now – and things that will impact other people in a big way.
You are an incredible inspiration.
Mike and all,
Glad to hear you had a great weekend. Fun is almost as important as hard work.
Still praying and love to hear how your doing.

So good to hear Mike --that you're getting some relief from your nausea! PTL!
So glad that Steve could come and visit -- it will be a good "pick-up" for everyone in your family.
We're praying for you!

Hi Mike and Family,
I log on to your blog everyday or every other day, just to see how things are going. I am so happy to hear that you guys are all together and having such a good time. You are so lucky to have each other and always remember we are thinking of all of you down home. Take care

Hey Mike!
So good to hear that you were able to spend some time with your brothers this weekend. Hopefully, you are settled in at Glenrose and still finding a way to sneak in a nap every now and then. Have you got all the nurses wrapped around your finger yet??
I recently read the book of Jonah, and I felt that Jonah's prayer may be helpful to you;
"In my distress I called to the LORD, and he answered me. From the depths of the grave I called for help, and you listened to my cry. You hurled me into the deep, into the very heart of the seas, and the currents swirled about me; all your waves and breakers swept over me. I said, 'I have been banished from your sight; yet I will look again toward your holy temple.' The engulfing waters threatened me, the deep surrounded me; seaweed was wrapped around my head. To the roots of the mountains I sank down; the earth beneath barred me in forever. But you brought my life up from the pit, O LORD my God. "When my life was ebbing away, I remembered you, LORD, and my prayer rose to you, to your holy temple. Those who cling to worthless idols forfeit the grace that could be theirs. But I, with a song of thanksgiving, will sacrifice to you. What I have vowed I will make good. Salvation comes from the LORD."
- Jonah 2:2-9
I continue to pray for you and your family and friends each night, Mike, and I know that the Lord is holding you in his hands and working miracles in your life each day.
The great thing about faith is that you don't have to understand everything, only trust that He knows best.
God Bless,

Dear Mike and Family: So good to hear that you could spend some time being together, doing 'normal' stuff. Getting a handle on the nausea opens the door to all kinds of food possibilities....bye bye Fruit Loops.....hello Eggs Benedict..... We continue to think of you daily Mike, and pray that you only get stronger.....love, Cindy P.
Hey Barkers,
Geeez, I thought girls were supposed to be the ones excited about the mall!!! ... :) lol. Glad you all are having an awesome time, malling, shoe shopping, and all that (Guess you could say guys do have a feminine side, SHOE shopping, man, I hope someone had a camera around, I don't believe it... jk) Still praying for God's healing and courage and safe travels (whether it be across the block for Mike or across the states for Steve). Hope the house hunting is successful, too, Mr and Mrs Barker.
In Christ,
Britney
Hey Mike,
I am still thinking of witty poetry to send you...it's taking a while, but Chelsey and I are going to get together and think of something great.
Love, Ash
Hi Barkers,
Is your weather really hot out there?
Praie the Lord that you have a new med for your nausea and that it is working! Happy times when you can take off and have some fun at the mall.
You all deserved a break, now back at it, all the hard work will pay off. Keep on smiling!
Susan
CindyP says "bye bye Fruit Loops.....hello Eggs Benedict" !? Now I'm nauseous! :P Even "Brown Dinner" sounds better. Uh, on second thought, maybe not... Was good to see you, and to share a few laughs this time - keep up the great kat-itude, Mike! God bless!
Glad to hear you all had a great weekend together!
We just found this blog and want you to know we're thinking and praying for you. Michael, we're college friends of your mom and dad. They were pretty cool back then, in the 70's. I bet they're still pretty happenin. Your obvious sense of humor and positive attitude is an encouragement to us.
